This is the blurb about 23 Coins from Spoon Theatre's website:

"Annie Potts is not like other girls. For example, her mother is a murderer. That is, if you were to ask the Seattle police department or her Christian-right grandmother… But we know different: Annie’s grandfather once lay twisted and suffering, stricken with Huntington’s Chorea, bedridden, unable to feed, toilet, or bathe himself, unable to speak. Only after repeated and desperate pleas for help (firmly denied him by his wife), his only daughter gave him what no one else would."

With a cast of five and orchestrated for piano, bass, percussion, sax, clarinet, and flute, An American Musical pokes fun at the war on terror through music, dance, and catchy little ditties parodying musical theatre and the music of the 1940's. Think "propaganda film meets the Andrew Sisters on crack - with a dream sequence/ flashback ballet thrown in for fun!"

On August 4th, 2008, he and Kristen Caven had their well-received staged reading of their fairy tale-based musical, The Souls of Her Feet [the first part of the trilogy, Shoes, a Mirror, and Big Pink Rose], at the famous Playwrights Horizons in NYC.

Now on deck: Michael is finishing writing Shoes... with Kristen [we are totally re-writing the show because we learned so much at the reading] and also composing the music and writing the libretto for the one act-musicals, WAITING...[a drama] and ASK-A-NURSE [a comedy].

Michael and Kristen have had a blast working on this musical, which is a contemporary re-telling of the "Cinderella" fairy tale. The other sections/stories to be performed sometime in the near future are contemporary re-tellings of "Snow White" and "Beauty and the Beast." Have patience! We’re fine-tuning them!
